Not sure this is connected or not- anyone any ideas?

Hi,
I am having chronic pelvic pain- I have had it since last November and the Doctor treated me for PID- there's no way it could be this as it means you have an STI- definately not had tests and the lot. It did die down and now its coming back- I can't move properly with it and I get a swelling on my left hip, I can't even drive without being in pain and with IBS going to the toilet is extra difficult.
Anyone any ideas?
Cheers for any advice.

HI Steeleye!

Sorry you are going though all of this... :( has the doctor determined the cause of the pelvic pain?

Sadly I live in a very rural community where if you go to the doctors with anything other than arthritis, asthma or blood pressure they haven't got a clue. I've had so many antibiotics thrown at it and that didn't help. I don't want to go back to the doctor because he has just started to look fed up with me as though I'm making it up. Am going to see an Osteopath next week so may ask her opinion or ask the doctor when I go for a colonoscopy at the hospital....:(

i've been through the same thing. for years, actually. i now regulate the pain with bromelain (a digestive enzyme/anti-inflammatory) and prescription IBS meds. it turned out to be related to endometriosis. although, i am beginning to think it's more related to fluctuations in PH during hormone changes. are you noticing that it happens during or around your menstrual cycle/ovulation?

the problem with dr.s is that a) they're really busy so they're not always willing to listen to the whole story and want a quick diagnosis to attach to you. hence, pelvic pain = pid. they did the same thing to me (6 months on antibiotics) until i made the endo connection. i also had to make the ibs connection; b) they look at our systems as made up of separate pieces when in fact it's all connected. if you google ibs and endometriosis, there is a big overlap in symptoms and often the two go hand in hand. but for some reason, some GI docs don't bother to make the connection with endo and OB/GYNs don't link the GI stuff.

hope this helps
