What do you do for fun?

Play with my grandchildren. Watch movies. Work on remodeling my home. I used to go to the beach (would love to do that again!)

How long have you lived with IBS?

Have had IBS-D since I was about 12 (it didn't have a name back then). .

When did you realize you had IBS?

Probably 10-12 years ago. My gastroenterologist finally "officially" used the term about 2 years ago.

Most embarassing IBS moment:

In Home Depot. Didn't quite make it to the bathroom in time. After about an hour in the bathroom, had to walk quickly out of the store with wet jeans.

How do you do treat your IBS?

I watch what I eat. I was taking a daily dose of 1 pepto-bismol tablet. On bad days I upped the dosage and also took immodium. I don't eat during the day because I have to work. I only eat dinner. Last week I read about taking calcium with meals to act as a binder. Last week I cut out coffee (my very favorite thing!) and started the calcium (I was already taking calcium once a day for osteoporosis. I have had a much easier week. I'm being cautiously optimistic about the calcium.
