Beaten and battered

Sunday morning 10.50 and I feel absolutely shattered. I think last evening, Saturday, was quite the worst time I have had with this IBS thing, if an IBS thing it is.

I had a few egg sandwiches and a few tinned gooseberries for my tea, up to which time I had had an especially good day. Some time later, maybe an hour, I started on the diarrhoea and spent the rest of the evening dashing to the bathroom. For some of the time, maybe an hour again, I felt shockingly nauseous without ever being sic

Jumping Jehosaphat (I think)

9.10 a.m and a nightmare night behind me; precious little left inside. I think that was the worst night I have had for diorrhoea. I must have had to dash to the bathroom 8 or 9 times. And dash it was! I say dash, but with arthritis kicking in and a balance problem anyway they were the dashes of a tortoise. Disaster cannot for long be kept at bay methinks.

Cooling down

The last day or two have been a big improvement on recent weeks. I have cut down almost to nothing my intake of dairy products and drink only two cups (max) of tea. The rest of the time I'm on decaff coffee and water. I have been able to go out without navigating by gents toilets. I don't know how other sufferers go on but, to whatever town I go, my first job is to locate the gents toilets and then grade them according to their acceptability. I think I probably know all of them in Not

Feeling my age

I feel very encouraged by the response to my first post, not that I expect to become a target for fan mail. Still, a first time for everything.

The improvement of yesterday has been maintained today although I still feel a bit hungover and down: the arthritis hasn't helped any in this.

I have been fascinated by the glance through the membership I took a few minutes back. It left me feeling ancient and convinced that the world is being ta

A first time blogger

I never dreamed at one time that my first blog entry would be on a space for IBS sufferers! You never know what's round the corner.

Today has been a much better day but the last fortnight has been absolutely horrendous. Not to put too fine a point on it, for most of that time I have not dared to be more than about ten seconds from the loo. Then came a little look round the website of the Mayo clinic last evening. I learned that caffeine can be a cause of IBS diorrhoea. Today I have bee
