don't be afraid, it's one of the easiest tests i've had. The test was actually for other bowel conditions, like coeliac's, and they couldn't find that, so...IBS was the diagnosis! You will most likely be put to sleep, so enjoy a little rest! :) A ca…

There are no tests for IBS. It is diagnosed when all the tests for everything else are negative. The colonscopy will find nothing if you have IBS. It will not hurt you at all. When you are sick of the symptoms and ready to change go here www.ibsex

A colonscopy is the best test and nothing to be afraid of. I've had three in the past 6 years. IBS is very difficult to diagnose since there are so many different symptoms. There is a lot of information on the internet. I've had IBS for many years a…

I just saw this post and thought I would revive it with all the talk about Leaky Gut and the Paleo diet. It seems they go hand in hand. The paleo diet (from what i've been reading and researching) helps cure auto-immune diseases (such as IBS). It's…

Hey, no i'm not a model unfortunately lol. Well, i am not on a specific diet as such, and i still haven't found anything that's really worked for me.. but i am avoiding dairy, wheat, beans and anything fried/processed/fatty as they trigger severe ibs attacks with me. Other than that, i am eating quite a limited diet consisting mainly of oats, quinoa, eggs, some chicken and fish, soya yoghurt, oat milk, and some fruits and most veggies/salad. If i stick to eating those foods the symptoms aren't quite so severe, but i am still quite bloated, constipated and have abdominal pain most of the time.. which is frustrating! I depend on Movicol and Magnesium Citrate daily to keep things 'moving' as well.

In terms of alcohol, i only drink vodka with fruit juice as that is the only drink that i can really tolerate without too much problem. Wine and most other alcoholic drinks are a no-go for me. How do you take aloe vera? I tried it in liquid form a while ago, but i found it aggravated my stomach.

haha, i'm fine with alcohol, i guess i built up a tolerance for it but sometimes the next day could a pain in the ass. My IBS used to be really bad and I never used to go out but the past year or so has been 60% better. haha, don't be scared around girls, you'd be surprised how understanding some of them are and if they aren't then you know that she isn't the right one.

Hi Gav - found the miricle solution yet? The last few times Ive drank Ive stuck to Vodka and things have been ok [Ive also started taking Aloe Vera capsules and really upped my rice intake) - have you had any luck?

Hi! I've really tried to cut down on my alcohol intake of recent! I did think cider was a trigger at one point but now im not so sure. Soda, cranberry and vodka which I think was pretty stable or even just vodka & orange. Im yet to find the ideal mix but I don't think there is one, I just pop an Imodium and hope for the best really - not very consructive, apologies, I'll have a try of a few things over the next few weeks and see what works best! Theres an excuse if ever I heard one...

Sorry im not much use! Nix x

alcohol, that is a hard one! It's hard to avoid when your out with your friends, and of course the drunkies hassle you more for not drinking! And they always want to know why....haha..if only they knew...

I try to at least hold a non-alcoholic drink to avoid the peer pressure if I want to avoid bloating and cramps the morning after. If I do drink, I stick to one alcohol for the night - personally prefer wine. Otherwise I'll mix some clear liquor in diet coke or some soda without sugar. Overall avoiding sugary drinks helps me out a lot later on. Beer is no good for my tummy, which is such a shame with all this wonderful beer in Deutschland.

As for the aloe vera, how much do you take normally?

umm...really want to know? it's quite depressing! oatmeal, yogurt, keifer, soy milk, german style thick whole grain breads (i live in stuttgart germany right now) , fresh veggies microwaved until tender but not too much, rice, barley, quinoa. maybe once a week a piece of chicken or fish. i use tamari sauce a lot to give stuff flavor + some protein as it doesn't upset my stomach like tomato sauces or creams. for the C i've found that a glass of prune juice with some aloe vera juice in the eve works very well - and i've tried about everything else with bad results. most imporatntly i'd read something online about drinking about 0.5l water in the morning as soon as you get up and holding off on eating anything for about 40 mins. this will almost always get things moving if you know what i mean. i started doing it about a month ago and now its daily routine...pretty crazy because it wasn't abnormal to be constipated for three weeks at a time (which is not comfortable in any way whatsoever!) also running, lifting, yoga, etc, -anything to get your mind off the stress prevalent in most IBS suffers' lives.

hope this helps...if i think of anything else i'll post it.
