Kim Finding the problem

I thought for many years I had IBS (diarreah/constipation). I had this for over 10 years. Finally a year ago I found out I was lactose intolerant. The diarreah went away. Last year I found out I have an underactive thyroid. I am now on medicine to fix the thyroid problem (at 7 weeks right now). The constipation has gone away. If you haven't checked into this, please do. An overactive thyroid causes diarreah, and underactive thyroid causes constipation. Continue

Leah S Freed Life

In general, life has been good. I have been trying to tell myself that I can work; it just hasn't worked out that way yet. I never know when I will need to use the bathroom; whether it be because of something I ate or otherwise, but I just hate that I have to know where the bathrooms are. I just want one good day where I don't have to go; but then with me being on steroids because of asthma; it sucks. Life in general is good. Continue

Ellie Growing Up with IBS

I have had IBS-C for so long that you think I would be used to some of it by now. I started having stomach problems in fourth grade right after Christmas break. I felt like I had the flu but I was also only like 9 and didn't know the difference yet. I thank God everyday for giving me the teacher I had during fourth grade. She was my advocate and made sure I was given the help I needed while in school. I was poked and prodded so many times in just one year. I had an upper GI test, glucose toleran… Continue

Notknockedup Username Agony.

Hi, I chose this name as I am so horrified by the belly bloat that comes with IBS for me. I have gone from being a confident Circus performer and very social woman to a hermit and today I had to leave this house and yes,it happened, the dread belly swell. I was actually off to see a healer who is both spiritual and a herbalist. The herbalist is new to me and when I walked in she assumed I was pregnant. Afterwards I stopped at a quaint Aussie pub to eat and a woman started chatting and mentioned… Continue

kagome523 subway nyc

I was on the subway the other day going home and I knew it was going to be an awful ride. I had been out earlier with a friend of mine, it seemed like we walked 500 blocks since we were walking for a few hours. Finally we sat to have lunch (buffet style) and I ate way too much too fast. I knew what was coming next. Instantly my tummy starting cramping and hurting and I passed gas (silently of course). Anyways, we left and she's a fast walker, and doesn't seem to understand that after you eat you… Continue

CuteSocks7 Feel Like Quitting

Ugh, this is just a rant I guess. I'm trying to finish college, but my IBS is making it SO hard. Every day feels like I'm going to die (sounds dramatic, but I'm not even kidding) and I don't know what I'm going to do. I feel so alone here, and I'm tired of struggling just to drag myself to classes. My doctor won't even give me a waiver for my flippin 9am PE class, so I'm going to get to lug my tired/nauseous self around the gym for the entire semester, hoping I don't vomit all over everyone. I h… Continue

kagome523 activated charcoal & psyllium husks

Has anyone used activated charcaol? Does it seem to work to in minimizing the odor of the leaky gas? I bought psyllium husks and I'm just wondering if anyone else is using it and if it's helpful. I will also post the results I've received from these products after I use them. Continue

pearly_whites I'm really glad this site exists.

I'm never open about my IBS, except for family and my boyfriend. This is an awesome way to be open about our problems and help each other out. This is such an embarrassing topic for me. But, I feel comfortable here. I'm glad more people are joining. Since joining this site I have learned that other people experience extremely painful cramps when the have an episode of diarrhea. I used to think I was just going to collapse and die. Now I know that I'm not the only one and I won't die, haha. I'm… Continue

I feel weak all the time, but that's b/c i sleep soooo late every single night (awful habit) 4. I only get bowel movements after i drink my fennel seed tea, maybe too much of a good thing is bad! 5. Anubis My rant.

Hi there, My name is Jaime. I guess I’ll start with a history of myself. Four years ago I suspected I had IBS since my bowel habits started to change. I may have had it longer but it was really mild and unnoticeable. When my system started to really change I went to the doctors several times. Been to a couple actually. I had a series of tests done for the next couple of years. Several blood and stool tests. Ultrasound of my abdomen and GI series of x-rays. I had also a sigmoidoscopy, endoscopy,… Continue

electrohoney random ibs attacks

Today and yesterday have been pretty bad in terms of ibs attacks.Yesterday i followed my usual diet i have been sticking to the last couple of months (consisting of oats, egg white, mushrooms, tomatoes, oat milk, rice krispies, apple, melon, quinoa.. etc) and whilst still getting the bloating, constipation, stomach cramps and abdominal pain, hadn't been experiencing so many attacks of distension and gas.. and low and behold my ibs went and randomly flared up :( and looked like this..… Continue

electrohoney first blog.

I just realised i hadn't posted one of these blog things yet haha. So, better late than never! Well, i am still on my quest in finding ways to relieve my ibs-c. So far, i have made big steps, but taken several steps back at the same time. I worked out with the help of a dietitian that i am lactose intolerant as well as intolerant to wheat. Through my own trial and error i found beans, corn, vinegar, alcohol (other than vodka) and anything fried/processed/fatty were triggering my severe ibs attac… Continue

kagome523 Fennel Tea is my new love

This week was much better than last week at least concerning my ibs. Everything else sucked this week. My relationship with a close friend ended. I have anxiety so I got so paranoid about a lot of things. Then of course I couldn't get into a course I need to take in the fall b/c it was closed and I'm on a waiting list. Isn't that great? There's more, now I have some medical problem besides IBS. My white blood cell count is low especially the neutrophils so basically I need to wash my hands a lot… Continue

kagome523 My Week

This week has been up and down. I felt great at the beginning of the week even though before every class I'm worried that I will have a lot of gas and that it will smell bad. I'm always aware where the windows are and unfortunately I usually pick the seats in the back where the windows are and so if the windows are open I might be screwed. By Wednesday, my worst day this week, I was not happy with the food choices and I had cooked spinach and a tuna sandwich on 7 grain bread and so I thought I… Continue

Eli Ms. FartsAlot!!

This is so unbelivable embarresing, but I fart more than anyone I know... And my god it stinks!!! So if Im among people, I hold it in (I dont want anyone to know)! So before I have to go out (especially to the movies or if Im going to be around just a few people), I try to "empty" myself. This offcourse never works, and I just dont allow myself to "let it out". This gives me cramps big time, and by the time I get home it hurts so bad I could cry! The worst times is when I have my exams at school… Continue
